January Updates

Happy Belated New Year- Things are moving along with the Gran Fondo Moab cycling event. Gran Fondo’s are starting to pop up all over the US in the last couple of months. One thing that will set the Gran Fondo Moab aside from the others is that we are not running our event in a downtown major city with lots of traffic. The scenery that our course has to offer is absolutely amazing with very little traffic. If you have not ridden the La Sal mountain loop road in Moab now is your chance. This will be an event you will not forget.

Yes, this is one of the worst winters that Moab has seen in some time, but that is no reason to keep from being motivated about Spring cycling events.  Start riding your trainer now and get ready for some fun climbing in May. This will be great training for harder rides in the summer you might have planned. If you are doing the Iron Horse Bicycle classic in Durango, CO this will be your perfect warm-up.

Registration is going up after February 16 to $80.00 for individual and $135.00 for tandems. REGISTER NOW to get your place in the ride. We now have “It’s The Law- 3 feet bumper stickers available for the first 200 riders. If you have already registered don’t worry, you’ll be getting one. We are working on the event t-shirt which will be really cool. This will be a cycling event t-shirt that you will actually want to wear!

Right now the GFM is working on new event posters, final selection of our charities, event t-shirt, prizes-gift baskets, and more.

Stay tuned for more details to come. Start training now to suffer later!

Happy Holidays from Gran Fondo Moab

Things are coming along great for the Gran Fondo Moab cycling event. We now have a *rolling closure on highway 128 during the event from town to Castle Valley provided by the Utah State Troopers.  After the right hand turn going towards Castle Valley, riders will pass famous sights like Castleton Tower, looming over the 4,685 ft (1,428 m) valley at 6,656 feet (2,029 m). Eventually riders will be spreading out on Pace Hill, and from there, it is all uphill to the La Sal Mountain Loop Road.

BH, Orbea, Camelbak, DZ Nuts, Vittoria Tires, Hammer Nutrition, Mavic, and Giro are all lined up as sponsors providing some excellent merchandise for prizes. More details to come! Visit the Gran Fondo Moab Sponsors Media Page

Happy Holidays – From Gran Fondo Moab cycling events.

*A rolling road closure is one type of temporary road closure and is used to permit a small parade or procession. A rolling closure interrupts the flow of traffic for a shorter period of time than a temporary road closure.
